I recently was asked to choreograph a music video for an up-an-coming band The Gang Of Thieves..from Burlington Vermont… Their song i choreographed to was “sexy Star”. ~Look this.band up on youtube they are funkyRegeaaRock and very catchy!!~
I started with an audition, held 4 rehearsals, and went from there! The theme is set as a gypsy Circus where the band stumbles upon this circus and cant help but join!! Characters range from animals like big cats, alice in wonderland, and ring leaders.. Chorepgraphy is a jazzFusion!
**edited and final version will be posted once its complete! Enjoy..

“will speak” choreographed by ashley bousquet performed by UMass dance majors @ Hampshire College in 2010

This piece is about relationships and the trials and tribulations of handling a verbal and psyhical abusive partnership… with the mental and physical toll it can have on an individual. I created this piece in my sophmore year at UMass Amherst, watching friends, family, and my personal experiences with relationships having inspired me to piece it together. The spoken word at the begining and end of the piece symbolizes actually speaking to the abusive partner. In another perspective, the spoken word could be rhetoric questions, talking to his or her own self trying to understand why the partner is being abusive. “Why? Why did you do this? Why did you do this, to me?”<— is an example.
in 2011 this piece was chosen to represent the UMass amherst dance department at the American College Dance Festival Association (ACDFA) in CT and was also presented at THE PULSE Boston, Trinity College, and various locations in western, Ma.

“bang bang” structured improvisation & performance by ashley bousquet (me!)

*° I found the song bang bang by nancy sinatra and HAD to create a piece with it!! There are inspirations i use when choreographing like: a concept such as war, a certain move i can do in various.ways, a dance “technique” like Jazz, a song that moves me such as in this case, or to create a.dance just because!! This one i wanted to keep RAW. i didnt want to make anything set in stone. I just created some pieces of material and when i got on stage.. It all just came out of my body naturally! Its exciting when this happens and then, if recorded, you can look at what you did, analyze & reuse anything you’d like for possible future endeavours!!

senior thesis dance piece

A college senior, earning my BFA in dance I was required to choreograph a concert long piece. I decided to take drug addiction to the next level..on stage! The above clip is a short section of the piece. Lighting was key and so dancers may seem unfocused because on stage they cant be seen. An African Djembe drum was played as live music!

“a little bit of this & a little bit of that” modern jazz choreography 2011

*my junior year of college i was upset i was declined to choreograph in our regular annual student choreographed show Emerging Choreographers Series (ECS) because i had choreographed the year prior.and room did not permit! So instead, i got together with a few other choreographers and created a show off campus in south hadley ma. At the EAST STREET BALLET theatre!
This piece was an expirement in fusing jazz&modern dance with live music of keyboard & drums! Its full of energy & stamina!! Enjoy!.. 🙂 ❤
